Volleyball

Lancers pick up first win

Edinburgh notched its first win of the season, defeating Lighthouse Christian in two straight sets at the Cougar Challenge on Saturday. The Lancers (1-23) also had losses to New Haven, Greenfield-Central and Anderson at the event.

Whiteland (10-15) split its four matches at the tournament, beating Anderson and Daleville and dropping close three-set matches to Homestead and New Haven.

Girls soccer

Trojans split at home

Class 3A No. 9 Center Grove split a pair of 2-0 matches at the Trojan Classic on Saturday. The Trojans (12-2) fell to Columbus East but bounced back to beat Oldenburg Academy behind goals from Macy Detty and Megan Perry.

Franklin falls by one

Franklin suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat at the hands of Seymour on Saturday.

Boys tennis

Trojans drop two of three

Hosting a tournament on Saturday, Center Grove lost 4-1 matches to the top two teams in the state, Carmel and Homestead. The fifth-ranked Trojans did pick up a 4-1 victory over No. 13 Jasper.

Lancers finish fourth

Edinburgh placed fourth at the Hope Heritage tournament on Saturday. Coltan Henderson had a pair of wins in the top singles spot.

Cross country

Franklin boys dominate league meet

The Franklin boys won their sixth consecutive Mid-State Conference title on Saturday, putting five runners in the top seven. Andrew Bixler led the way in second, with Wyatt McCullough, Ethan Pheifer, Will Tucker and Isaiah Linsday finishing fourth through seventh. Drew Hargis (ninth) joined them on the all-conference team.

Cougar boys third in PAAC

Greenwood Christian’s boys placed third at the PAAC meet on Saturday. Aden Sloan (ninth overall) and Zane Stout (12th) both earned individual all-conference honors.

In the girls meet, Anna Subris and Whitney Smith also picked up all-conference nods by placing fourth and fifth, respectively. The Cougars did not score as a team.
