Sewell helping lead Franklin College volleyball

Franklin College sophomore Abby Sewell had 11 kills and five digs in the Grizzlies’ five-set loss to Trine at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational.

The Grizzlies then lost to host Ohio Wesleyan as Sewell, a Franklin Community High School product, chipped in six kills and three digs. She had 11 kills and two digs in a five-set victory over St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

Franklin

Junior Blaine Conners finished 47th overall to help lead Franklin College men’s cross country to a 12th-place standing as a team at the Rhodes College Invitational in Memphis, Tennessee.

Caleb McCort, a freshman runner at Florida College, placed 75th overall at the Embry-Riddle Classic.

Trine volleyball player Alyvia Sundheimer had three kills and a dig to help her squad defeat Franklin College in five sets. The team was at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational, where Sundheimer finished with 28 kills in four matches.

Murray State freshman Rachel Kinney finished her team’s three matches in the Billiken Invitational with seven digs and an assist.

Trine football player Damon Munn had a catch for five yards as his team rolled to a 56-6 romp at Lakeland.

Center Grove

Freshman defensive back Tyler Watson came through with four tackles and a pass break-up for Taylor in its 50-13 win against Trinity International. Sophomore Sam Bolin, who also plays in the secondary for the Spartans, was close behind with three tackles. Freshman defensive lineman Brad Boswell was credited with one stop.

Ball State redshirt freshman Trevor Hohlt had a reception for 22 yards in the Cardinals’ 38-10 loss at Indiana.

Vanderbilt sophomore defensive end Cameron Tidd picked up three tackles for the Commodores in their 22-17 loss at Notre Dame.

Joey Siderewicz, a junior slot receiver for Franklin College, helped his team down Anderson, 51-27, with three receptions for 39 yards.

Indiana State running back Titus McCoy finished with a catch for eight yards as the Sycamores moved to 2-1 with a 55-41 defeat of Eastern Illinois.

Stanford defensive end Jovan Swann had a tackle and a pass break-up in the team’s 30-10 victory over UC Davis.

IUPUI golfer Austin Crowder secured seventh place individually at the Memphis Intercollegiate with a 1-under-par total of 68-75-72—215.

Indiana golfer Ethan Shepherd placed 48th individually at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Classic with a 54-hole score of 222.

Stetson men’s soccer player Brock Exline, a junior forward, started two of his team’s first matches this season.

The University of Indianapolis women’s soccer squad is off to a 5-1 start, with senior defender Amber Perry leading the Greyhounds in minutes played with 534.

Junior middle blocker Madison Smeathers had six kills and a dig in Ohio State’s five-set loss to Dayton. She also produced three kills in the Buckeyes’ victory over Evansville.

Freshman Devynn Merriman had 14 digs for Indiana State in a 3-1 victory against Portland State at the Colorado Classic. In three matches, Merriman finished with totals of four assists and 21 digs.

Middle Tennessee setter Taylor Hammill had 20 assists in a loss to Gardner-Webb and 22 in a loss to the host squad at the Wofford Invitational.

Illinois State senior Ali Line finished with 19 kills, two assists, eight digs and two service aces in the team’s three matches at the Marquette Invitational.

Greenwood

Franklin College sophomore Krista Robinson finished 73rd for the Grizzly Cubs women’s cross country squad at the Rhodes College Invitational in Memphis, Tennessee.

Wabash College football improved to 3-0 with a 47-14 triumph at Kenyon. Senior Tanner Skeel helped the Little Giants prevail with three rushes for 24 yards.

Walsh freshman soccer player Kayla Rance has started four of the Cavaliers’ first six matches this season.

Freshman Morgan Timmons placed 148th individually for Franklin College at the Rhodes College Invitational in Memphis, Tennessee.

Trine cornerback James Starks had a tackle in the team’s 56-6 victory at Lakeland.

Whiteland

Anderson receiver Matt Luechtefeld had two catches for nine yards in the Ravens’ 51-27 home loss to Franklin College.

Edinburgh

Senior defensive back Elliott Parmer played for Franklin College in a 51-27 victory at Anderson.

Roncalli

DaPauw receiver Will Harris led all Tigers with five receptions for 89 yards in a 45-7 defeat of Hiram. The Greenwood resident also had two carries for 13 yards.
