Financial advisor attends summit

Janette F. Koon, financial advisor with Waddell and Reed, attended the Regional Advisors Summit in Chicago earlier this month.

The conference was attended by financial services professionals from across the country. The conference addressed topics such as increasing healthcare costs, long-term care issues, risk tolerance and investment returns, building retirement portfolios in today’s economy and social security updates.

Koon’s office is in Greenwood.

Southside clinic gets new doctor

Theodore C. Seger, MD, has begun practice with Franciscan Physician Network South 31 Family Care.

Seger most recently completed a family medicine residency at Saint Joseph Medical Center in Mishawaka, where he served as chief resident in his final year of training. He is board-certified in family medicine.

He received an undergraduate degree in chemistry from Butler University and earned his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine.

In addition to family medicine, Dr. Seger provides obstetrical care and delivers babies at Franciscan Health Indianapolis.

Credit union gives to local school supply drive

Indiana Members Foundation, the charitable arm of Indiana Members Credit Union, provided 5,000 backpacks to local community organizations.

The foundation donated some of the backpacks to Fast Track in Johnson County, a United Way program that gives backpacks stuffed with school supplies to students in most school districts in the county.

Sports medicine doctor hired

Methodist Health has hired a physician that will treat Greenwood patients once a week.

Methodist Sports Medicine hired Dr. Michael Bender.

Bender is a fellowship-trained shoulder and elbow specialist. He graduated as valedictorian from Indiana Wesleyan University with his bachelor’s degree in pre-medicine biology in 2008 and received a Doctor of Medicine from Indiana University’s School of Medicine in 2012. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency in 2017 through the Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners/Michigan State University.

He will accept shoulder and elbow patients at the Greenwood and Carmel/Indianapolis Clinics. He will work in the Greenwood clinic on Mondays.
