Boys tennis

Braves drop heartbreaker

Indian Creek was edged by Waldron, 3-2, in a match that came down to a third-set tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles. The Braves got their points from Andrew Long, who won in three sets at third singles, and the No. 2 doubles team of Garrett Dalton and Jaden Schrougham.

Warriors keep cruising

Whiteland rolled to a 5-0 win over Greenfield-Central on Thursday. Quinten Gillespie, Corey Ullrich and Dylan Gross posted singles victories for the Warriors (15-1), who also got doubles points at No. 1 (Garrison Pelfree/Lane Stephenson) and No. 2 (Wesley Hawk/Travis Robinson).

Lancers come up just short

Edinburgh dropped a 3-2 match with Brown County on Thursday. Coltan Henderson and Brayden McManaway earned straight-set wins in the first two singles spots for the Lancers.

Girls soccer 

Grizzly Cubs top Trinity

Franklin defeated Trinity Lutheran on Thursday, 5-2.

Volleyball

Lancers swept by Saints

Edinburgh lost in straight sets to Indianapolis Lutheran on Thursday, 25-3, 25-17, 25-18. The Lancers are now 0-20.

Braves still perfect in WIC

Indian Creek won at Owen Valley on Wednesday, 25-22, 16-25, 25-12, 25-20. Taylor Burkett led the Braves (11-6, 3-0 WIC) with 18 kills and five blocks, while Malea Brownfield had 30 assists. Jessie Hart pulled up a team-high 15 digs, while Brownfield and Morgan Frash (9 kills) each added 11.

Warriors fall to Cardinals

Whiteland lost at Southport on Wednesday, 25-19, 23-25, 25-9, 26-24, falling to 8-12 overall on the year.

Franklin College

Hall of Fame class announced

Franklin College named the three newest inductees into its Athletic Hall of Fame on Thursday.

Former student-athletes Darrel Heuchan and Katie (Tewell) Brinker will be inducted next Thursday alongside friend of the athletic department Robert Schafstall.

Tewell graduated in 2008 after earning first-team All-America honors three times in women’s golf and two national player of the year awards. Heuchan, a 1978 graduate, played basketball and baseball for the Grizzlies. Schafstall, Class of 1965, is a prominent benefactor who has been the official timer at basketball games for 45 years.

The trio will be honored at next Saturday’s football game against Rose-Hulman.
