Boys soccer

Center Grove routs New Pal

Class 3A No. 3 Center Grove steamrolled New Palestine on Tuesday, 7-0. Jack Neal scored twice for the Trojans (13-2), who also got single tallies from Jake Youngstafel, Mason Sutton, Nick Shirer, Cooper Livermore and Richard DeChant.

Trojans sweep Lawrence North

Paced by 31 assists and five aces from Madison Hammill, Class 4A No. 10 Center Grove overpowered Lawrence North on Tuesday, 25-12, 25-20, 25-22.

Gracie Gasper and Grace Boggess each delivered eight kills, with Boggess adding five blocks. Ashley Eck added 19 digs and four aces.

Boys tennis

Warriors blank Indian Creek

Whiteland beat Indian Creek on Tuesday, 5-0. The Warriors (14-1) got singles wins from Quinten Gillespie, Corey Ullrich and Dylan Gross. Wesley Hawk and Lane Stephenson won at No. 1 doubles, while Caidyn Baumann and Travis Robinson were victorious at No. 2.

Trojans keep rolling

Fifth-ranked Center Grove swept Bloomington South, 5-0, on Tuesday. The singles points went to Trey Thixton, Mitch Runkle and Mason Runkle, while Grant Herron and Nic Ballesteros got the win at first doubles and J.T. Embrey and Dhrumil Patel did the same at No. 2.

Lancers edged by Trinity Lutheran

Edinburgh suffered a narrow 3-2 loss to Trinity Lutheran on Tuesday. Coltan Henderson and Brayden McManaway earned straight-set victories for the Lancers at first and second singles, respectively.

Grizzly Cubs sweep Braves

Franklin coasted to a 5-0 win over Indian Creek on Monday. Jackson Klem, Nathan Tyler and Sam Auger swept the singles points for the Grizzly Cubs, Josiah Rockey and Adam Johnson won at No. 1 doubles and the team of Jared Ross and Jon Ott won at No. 2.

Rebels drop shootout

After battling Heritage Christian to a scoreless tie in regulation, Roncalli was beaten in a 2-1 penalty-kick shootout on Tuesday.

GCA’s Northern sets record in win

Cameron Northern scored a school-record six goals in Greenwood Christian’s 9-0 rout of Indianapolis Washington on Monday. Savvanah Frye, Alexis Mead and Katie Potter also scored for the Cougars, who lost a 6-2 game against Shelbyville on Tuesday despite two more goals from Northern.

Trojans edge Brownsburg

In a battle of top-10 teams, No. 9 Center Grove edged No. 10 Brownsburg on Monday, 4-3. Macy Detty scored a pair of goals for the Trojans (10-1), while Kailee Joseph and Megan Perry each added one. Lexi Glover had two assists.

Franklin College

Volleyball snaps losing streak

Kyra Harvey’s 16 kills helped Franklin College battle its way to a 20-25, 25-22, 25-20, 18-25, 15-13 win over St. Mary-of-the-Woods on Tuesday. Abigail Sewell and Kyndall Boyll added 11 and 10 kills, respectively, for the Grizzlies (5-7), who had lost three in a row. 

Libby Stahl pulled up 31 digs and Mackenzie Waldran had a career-high 46 assists in the victory.

Men’s tennis falls to Trine

Franklin College was beaten by Trine, 6-3, on Tuesday. Matt Stone had a pair of wins for the Grizzlies (1-1), taking his match at No. 5 singles and pairing with Alexander Pollard at No. 2 doubles. Blake Amonett added a victory at No. 1 singles.
