Stolen truck recovered after chase

A man was arrested after he stole a truck out of a garage in the Center Grove area and led police on a chase through Greenwood, at one point driving into oncoming traffic.

A resident reported early Tuesday that his truck was stolen out of his garage from his neighborhood near Morgantown and Smokey Row roads, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report said. The truck had possibly been taken the previous night.

Sheriff’s deputies and the vehicle owner used an in-vehicle safety and security system to learn the truck was near County Line Road and Madison Avenue. Police found a man driving the vehicle and tried to stop it.

The driver fled Greenwood police west on Main Street, drove through the parking lot of a business and then drove east on Faith Street, according to the report.

The truck turned north onto Victory Avenue, west onto Main Street and then north on Meridian Oaks Drive. The truck hit a median when trying to pass another vehicle, according to the report.

The driver got out of the vehicle and started to run, but was arrested on charges of auto theft and resisting law enforcement.

Michael Ernest Hall, 46, was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail and held on $4,600 bond.
