Homecoming dress event planned

Local teens can pick the perfect homecoming dance attire at an event this weekend.

The Johnson County Public Library is hosting a homecoming dress event.

Amy Hamilton, adult services librarian at the White River library, tells you what you need to know about the event.

When and where is the event?

The Homecoming Dress Pop-Up Shop will 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at White River Branch of the Johnson County Public Library, 1664 Library Blvd., Greenwood.

Who can come?

Any teen between the grades sixth through 12th may come.

How much does it cost?

It’s completely free.

What should people expect?

We will be in the community room and the dresses will be arranged by size. The dresses can be tried on in one of our changing rooms.

How many dresses do teens have to choose from?

We have dresses in a variety of sizes; overall I’d say we have about 100 dresses. We also will have a small selection of menswear, shoes and jewelry.

How did you get the idea?

Last year, at the Franklin Branch, we had a Homecoming Dress Pop-up Shop and it was a success so we are having it at White River Branch this year.

How can I donate a dress?

You can donate a dress, new or gently used, at any of our four branches: White River, Clark Pleasant, Franklin and Trafalgar. We also take donations for formal menswear, dress shoes and jewelry.
