Dealer sentenced to 17 1/2 years

A large-scale meth dealer will spend nearly 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple felonies.

Raymond “Squirrel” Lebo, 48, of Morgantown, pleaded guilty to three felony counts of dealing methamphetamine.

This week, Johnson County Superior Court 2 Judge Peter Nugent sentenced Lebo to 10 years in prison, and seven-and-a-half years on probation. Lebo has already served nearly a year in the Johnson County jail, since his arrest last year.

The defense has asked that Lebo be placed in a substance abuse treatment facility. Nugent said he would consider that if a bed opens up.

Last year, police found more than two ounces of meth worth more than $6,000, scales, baggies, pipes, stolen items and money in Lebo’s then-home at 133 Pratt St. in Franklin, following a month-long investigation by the Franklin Police Department and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Franklin police were tipped off by several neighborhood residents. Local police encourage residents to report suspicious behavior so police can investigate possible drug activity if it is happening in local neighborhoods.

Neighbors called the police department’s tip line to report suspicious activity in the neighborhood just north of downtown Franklin, including an unusual amount of vehicles coming and going from Lebo’s home. Police then searched the home after getting a search warrant.

Lebo has prior convictions in Johnson and Hancock counties for driving while intoxicated and driving on a license that has been suspended for life and previously served more than three years in prison, according to the Indiana Department of Correction.
