Man arrested after Trafalgar residents report a suspicious person

Deputies arrested a Trafalgar man on Sunday after a resident reported that someone had parked a moped on his property, according to a police report.

Jeremy Wagers, 38, 6789 S. County Road 125 W, was arrested on charges of operating under the influence, possession of marijuana and reckless possession of paraphernalia.

Homeowners called police when they noticed a moped parked on their property on County Road 400 West about 11 p.m. Sunday, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report. One homeowner walked out to where the moped was and saw a man, later identified as Wagers, come out of a cornfield across the road.

The homeowner tried to talk to the man, but he became upset. The homeowner showed him that he had a gun, and Wagers left on the moped when he saw police approaching.

Trafalgar police stopped Wagers, the report said.

Deputies found a small box containing marijuana in Wagers’s front right pocket, they said.

They performed several field sobriety tests, and found Wagers’s blood-alcohol content to be 0.177 percent. Deputies also found a black face mask. Nothing was missing or out of place at the property.

Wagers was held in the Johnson County jail on $10,200 bond.
