Lancers edged in opener

Edinburgh suffered a close five-set loss to Jac-Cen-Del on Monday, 17-25, 25-18, 15-25, 25-20 and 15-5.

Rebels blank Warriors

Marina Babcock scored twice as Roncalli shut out Whiteland on Monday, 4-0. Sophia Dietz and Chiara Schilten also scored for the Rebels.

Cross country

Grizzly Cub boys dominate

Franklin opened its season with an impressive win at the Triton Central Early Bird meet on Monday. The Grizzly Cubs took four of the top five places, led by individual champ Wyatt McCullough, and nine of the top 20.

Andrew Bixler and Will Tucker were second and third for Franklin, while Ethan Pheifer placed fifth.

Girls golf

Trojans suffer narrow defeat

Lucy Young shot a 37 and Maddie Heineman added a 39, but Center Grove came up just one stroke short against No. 13 Martinsville, 164 to 165, at Foxcliff on Monday.

Meg Fosnot and Lanie DeHaven finished at 44 and 45, respectively, for the Trojans.

Warriors fall to Dragons

Despite a 39 from Bri Harwell, Whiteland was beaten by New Palestine on Monday, 180 to 184. Lucy Gearhart added a 47 for the Warriors, while Allie Watson and Kierra Mitchell each shot 49.

Cougars top Attucks

Sophia Valant was the medalist as Greenwood Christian opened its season with a victory over Crispus Attucks on Monday.

Lancers come up short

Morgan Calhoun finished with a 43, but Edinburgh came out on the losing end of its Monday match with Triton Central, 173 to 216.

Braves fall to Brown County

Indian Creek lost to Brown County, 4-1, on Monday. The Braves’ lone point came at No. 1 doubles, where the team of Cody Hart and Mitchell Walls won in straight sets.
