Woodmen split three-way

Maecee Terhune shared medalist honors with a 43, enabling Greenwood to finish second in a very tight three-team match on Thursday.

Maura Guilfoy added a 47 for the Woodmen, whose total of 190 left them two shots behind Perry Meridian and one ahead of Mooresville.

Warriors beaten by Martinsville

Whiteland lost to 13th-ranked Martinsville on Thursday, 159 to 184, at The Legends. Bri Harwell paced the Warriors with a 43.

Allie Watson added a 45 in defeat, while Lucy Gearhart and Kierra Mitchell each shot 48.

Lancers fall just short

Edinburgh was edged by Southwestern (Shelbyville) on Thursday, 237 to 240, at Timbergate. Morgan Calhoun paced the Lancers with a 50.

Franklin College 

Football picked to win HCAC again

Despite having to replace 16 starters, including three all-conference picks, Franklin College was voted as the favorite to win the HCAC championship by the league’s coaches.

The Grizzlies, who went 8-3 last year and ran the table in the conference, are the preseason pick for the eighth consecutive year. They received six of the nine first-place votes, with Rose-Hulman picking up the other three.
