Sharp wins Indiana Open; locals well off pace

Michael Sharp of Kendallville knocked down a 10-foot birdie putt on his final hole to earn a one-stroke victory at the Indiana Open, which concluded Wednesday at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel.

Noah Gillard was the top local finisher. The recent Center Grove graduate carded a final-round 71 to end the tournament with an even-par 216, seven shots back of Sharp in a tie for 21st.

Two other former Trojans didn’t fare as well in the last round. Austin Crowder, fresh off a second-round 69, turned in a 77 to finish tied for 33rd at 220. Zack Carrabine wound up 65th after a final-round 85 left him at 229.

Hayden Martin of Greenwood finished 71st at 234 after shooting a final-round 84.
