Two arrested on drug charges after police check on vehicle

Two people were arrested on drug charges after police found suspected marijuana and methamphetamine in their vehicle, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.

The deputy was investigating because the car was stopped in a business parking lot at County Line and Bluff roads before 6 a.m. Monday.

Rustie Eakle, 30, of New Whiteland, and Ryan Zike, 28, of Martinsville, were arrested. Eakle was arrested on charges of possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, both misdemeanors. Zike was arrested on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, a felony.

Police found in the vehicle a burnt cigar with suspected marijuana inside, and a bag containing methamphetamine, a marijuana grinder, digital scales and a pipe that smelled of marijuana, the sheriff’s office report said.

Zike also had methamphetamine concealed in his clothes, and Eakle told the deputies she had a syringe, the report said.

Eakle is on probation in Marion County after pleading guilty in January to a felony charge of possession of a narcotic drug. Zike told the deputy he is also on probation.

Eakle, of 730 Wheatfield Lane, and Zike, of 19 E. Blaine St., were taken to the Johnson County jail. Eakle was held on $4,000 bond and Zike on $2,400 bond.
