Bank earns five stars

A bank with local branches has earned an award.

Mutual Savings Bank has been honored as a Five Star Member of the Indiana Bankers Association.

The Five Star Member designation recognizes banks which demonstrate outstanding commitment to the Association in five areas: political awareness, issues advocacy, life-long learning, IBA volunteerism, and Preferred Service Provider utilization.

The bank has branches in Franklin, Nineveh and Trafalgar.

Artcraft Theatre hosting business series

An installment of a video series will teach business owners, public officials and residents why people stop and spend money at businesses and towns.

The Historic Artcraft Theatre’s free business video series continues on June 6 with the showing of “Getting People to Stop: Crazy and Insane Ideas” by branding and marketing expert Roger Brooks. People can view the video at either of the two showings, which are at noon and 6 p.m.

The video series is sponsored by the Artcraft and the Johnson County Convention, Visitor and Tourism Commission, which oversees Festival Country Indiana.

The Artcraft, 57 N. Main St., is opening its concession stand for the showings in case people want to buy snacks, and people are invited to bring a lunch, a notebook and a pen to participate.

The next videos in the series will be shown at noon and 6 p.m. on July 11 and Aug. 8.

Video store offering free rentals to high achieving students

Students who  have excelled at school can receive a free video or game rental from Family Video.

The chain is offering a free rental to students kindergarten through college for every A they receive in a core subject. Students can also receive a small, one topping pizza from Marco’s Pizza’s stores that are affiliated with the store rental chain.

Students must bring in a hard copy or electronic copy of their report card.

Family Video locations are in Franklin, Greenwood and the southside.
