Johnson County homes sell at fast rate

Homes are continuing to sell at a fast pace in Johnson County.

Johnson County home sales in April increased by 8 percent from the same time last year, according to data from F.C. Tucker Co., an Indianapolis area real estate firm. The number of homes sold in central Indiana counties last month is up 5 percent compared to the same time last year, the news release said.

On average, homebuyers in the county spent nearly $202,000 purchasing homes this year, compared to an average price of about $195,000 through the same time last year, an increase of almost 4 percent. The average home price for all of central Indiana rose by about 8 percent from $189,000 to $204,000 when comparing the first four months of each year, according to a news release.

Homes remained on the market for an average of 54 days in Johnson County, the second fastest rate in central Indiana, the news release said.

The number of homes available for sale has also continued to drop. In Johnson County, potential homebuyers had 8 percent fewer homes to choose from compared to the same time last year, and homebuyers in the central Indiana area had their options drop by 22 percent, the news release said.
