Boys golf

Grizzly Cubs take Mid-State

Franklin totaled 297 and had four players earn all-conference honors on the way to victory in the Mid-State Conference championships on Saturday.

Matt Jordan shot 70, good for second place among individuals, to pace the No. 12 Grizzly Cubs, while Damon Dickey (73) was right behind him in third. Blake McIntire and Javan Johnson both shot 77 to tie for fifth.

Trojans double up

Top-ranked Center Grove split up to win a pair of tournaments on Saturday.

Sam Jean’s 69 helped the Trojans’ Red team win the Rock Hollow Invite with a score of 284. The White team, meanwhile, finished first out of 17 teams at Franklin Central Invite at Smock Golf Course with a score of 302. Caleb Tidd was the medalist there with a 71.

Rebels win state championship

Roncalli defeated Cathedral in four sets, 25-16, 23-25, 25-20, 25-22, to win the IBVCA state championship on Saturday at Southport High School.

Senior Nick Williams was named the tournament MVP for the Rebels (29-2), while senior Blake Powell and junior Sam Eiland joined him on the all-tourney team.

Roncalli advanced to the finals with wins over Fishers and Carmel.
