Fire damages bedroom of New Whiteland home

A Wednesday fire that damaged the bedroom of a New Whiteland home was determined to have been accidental.

Firefighters were called to a fire at 635 Sweetbriar Drive about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. The fire had started in a bedroom and was beginning to extend up a wall, New Whiteland Fire Chief Dale Saucier said.

The fire was extinguished in several minutes. Everyone in the home had gotten out without any injuries, he said.

An investigator from the White River Fire Department determined that the fire was accidental. No specific cause was identified, Saucier said.

The bedroom of the single-story home will need to be repaired prior to the family moving back in, he said.
