Indian Creek dominates Eagles

Dustin Sprong and Devyn Parr combined on a two-hitter and Dawson Read had a pair of extra-base hits as Indian Creek rolled past Brown County, 11-1, in six innings on Wednesday.

Dylan Sprong, Cory Grider and Trevor Ankney each drove in two runs for the Braves (7-1, 3-0 WIC).

Helton, Warriors blank Hawks

Luke Helton pitched a one-hit shutout, striking out 10, as Whiteland earned a 2-0 victory over Decatur Central on Wednesday.

Iyan Pelfree and Alex Reed drove in runs for the Warriors (6-6, 4-1 Mid-State).

Trojans rally for league win

Center Grove pushed across three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to steal a 9-8 victory over Warren Central on Wednesday.

Michael Wyman had a pair of doubles for the Trojans (7-5, 4-3 MIC).

Grizzly Cubs drop pitchers’ duel

Despite a solid outing on the mound from Luke Miles, Franklin took a 2-1 home loss against Martinsville on Wednesday.

Alec MacLennan had two hits for the Grizzly Cubs (6-7, 2-3 Mid-State), while Blake Dicken knocked in the lone run.

Braves fall to Eagles

Indian Creek suffered an 8-3 defeat against Brown County on Wednesday. Kasey Wilhoit, Rachel Kyle and Sydney Logsdon each hit a double for the Braves (4-5, 1-2 WIC).

Grizzly Cubs blanked by Artesians

Facing a tough Martinsville squad, Franklin came up empty in a 6-0 defeat on Wednesday. Rilee King and Izzy Harrison each had a hit and combined to strike out eight batters.

Woodmen outslugged by Quakers

Despite a late flurry, Greenwood suffered a 14-6 loss to Plainfield on Wednesday. Dominique Proctor had three hits and scored twice for the Woodmen.

Girls tennis

Braves eke out win

Indian Creek swept both doubles points and got a win at No. 2 singles from Ali Harris en route to a 3-2 victory at Edgewood on Wednesday.

The Braves’ No. 1 doubles team of Mekenzie Hunter and Mya Piccone locked down a win in straight sets, while Brooke Coy and Julia Sheets did the same at No. 2.

Trojans sweep Lawrence North

Sixth-ranked Center Grove rolled past Lawrence North on Wednesday, 5-0. Isabella Schoolcraft, Ellie Strube and Jillian Garrett swept the singles points, with Garrett winning in three sets.

In doubles, Emily Hoy and Ashlee Fisk were victorious at No. 1, while Holyn Aukerman and Abby Hoard claimed an easy win at No. 2.

Warriors top Martinsville

Whiteland pulled out a 3-2 victory over Martinsville on Wednesday. Sophie Venter’s win at No. 3 singles proved to be the difference.

The Warriors (7-3) also won both doubles points, with Bri Harwell and Sarah Scott earning a point at No. 1 and the No. 2 team of Hannah Blum and Riley Burnside doing the same.

Woodmen suffer league loss

Emily Chatham picked up a victory at No. 2 singles, but it wasn’t enough for Greenwood in a 4-1 defeat against Mooresville on Wednesday. The Woodmen fall to 4-7 overall, 2-3 in the Mid-State Conference.

Warriors win tight three-way

Isaac Ebeyer’s 37 led the way as Whiteland (159) pulled out a tight win over Triton Central (160) and New Palestine (162) on Wednesday.

Brady Brewer shot a 40 for the Warriors, while Evan Bunten and Jacob Johnson each added a 41.

Boys volleyball

Grizzly Cubs sweep Bull Dogs

Franklin bounced back from a Tuesday loss to No. 1 Roncalli by sweeping Columbus North on Wednesday, 25-21, 25-16, 27-25.

The Grizzly Cubs (11-6) got nine kills from Owen Mahin, while Logan Snyder had 11 digs. Tate Clendening totaled five blocks and Austin Sewell added 19 assists.

Franklin College

Softball settles for split

After cruising to an 11-3 victory in the opening game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against Hanover, Franklin College dropped a 4-3 heartbreaker in the nightcap.

Justice Carmichael totaled four hits and five RBIs on the day for the Grizzlies (24-8, 11-5 HCAC).
