Shelby Miles, a Franklin Community High School graduate now attending Indiana University, set three American records while taking first in her weight class at the USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals this past weekend in College Station, Texas.
Competing in the 84-kilogram weight class, Miles hit on all nine of her lifts and finished with an American record total of 1,064 pounds. She also established national marks in the bench press (244 pounds) and deadlift (450 pounds), adding a 370-pound squat.
Miles is the first undergraduate female in IU history to win a raw collegiate national title.
