GARDENA, Calif. — Los Angeles County authorities say a man suspected of being involved in a shooting in suburban Gardena was shot to death during a pursuit by officers.

The Sheriff’s Department says Gardena police responding to a shots-fired call Wednesday afternoon saw a man running from the location and multiple witnesses told them the man was involved.

The officers were pursuing the man on foot when he was shot. A Sheriff’s Department statement gives no details of how the shooting transpired.

The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. No one else was injured.

A gun was found at the scene but it’s not known if the suspect fired it at the officers.
