WOONSOCKET, R.I. — Authorities have released the name of the 3-year-old Rhode Island boy who drowned in about 18 inches of water on top of a neighbor’s covered pool this week.

Police say Jasper Sengsavangvong was found Monday afternoon after wandering away from his home in Woonsocket. Police say he had been outside with his father, who was working on a car.

Police say the boy had been missing for about 35 minutes when police were called. It took about 10 to 15 minutes for emergency responders to find him in the neighbor’s pool.

No foul play is suspected, but the investigation remains open.

Efforts to revive the boy at the scene were unsuccessful, and he was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
