LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas police are searching for a group of would-be mail thieves that hit a security guard with a vehicle as they were fleeing from a central valley apartment complex.

Las Vegas police Lt. Raul Rodriguez tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal that they received reports of a group of people trying to break into mailboxes at the Coronado Ranch apartment complex early Monday.

He says the group struck the security guard with the vehicle after the guard confronted them.

The security guard was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
