Tillie M. Isley

FRANKLIN

Tillie M. Isley, 95, died Wednesday evening, April 4th, 2018 at her residence at the Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community. Tillie was the youngest of seven children born to Clarence O. and Ada Dritt Sandifur. She was born near Boggstown, Indiana on Oct. 15, 1922.

She attended grade school at Smithland Elementary and later graduated from Flat Rock High School in 1939.

She married Carl C. Isley on November 29th, 1941 and they were married 49 years and 11 months. They had two sons, Carl Richard Isley (Linda) of Franklin and Donald R. Isley (Wynett) of Cosby, Tenn. She had five Grandchildren; two step-Grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

She lived in Greenwood for many years and was active in the Methodist church as well as the Eastern Star Chapter. She was past Worthy Matron and a 50+ year member. She was also an active member of the Woman’s Club holding several offices and an active member of the Tri Kappa Sorority where she served as President.

In 1968 they moved to Florida where Mr. Isley was administrator of the Sunny Shores Retirement Home and Tillie served as the activity director. She taught ceramics and accompanied residents on five cruises during their 25 years of service. She was a very active member of the St. Petersburg Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters, husband Carl and Grandson Charleston Ronald Isley.

Rev. Jenothy Rather will conduct a service on Monday, April 9th at 2:00 p.m. at Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community at the Wright Chapel, 1070 West Jefferson Street, in Franklin, with calling from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at the chapel. Burial will be at the Miller Cemetery at Shelbyville. Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin is assisting the family with arrangements.
