George “Matt” W. Mathews

BROWNSBURG

George “Matt” W. Mathews II, of Whiteland, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018. He was born July 9, 1921 in London, England, to the late George and Elisabeth Mathews. He served during WWII in the British Royal Air Force.

Mr. Mathews was proceeded in death by his first wife, Violet Rose Mathews, in 1972. Surviving is a daughter, Janet Allen (Joe); son, John Mathews (Helen). He has five grandsons and four great grandchildren in England. Mr. Mathews is survived by his wife, Eileen Mathews, whom he married in 1979. In the USA he is survived by stepson, Harold Schwartz (Marcia); stepdaughters, Marie Kirkeiner (Paul), and Melissa Klaassen (Rich); six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

George was known for his strong faith, love of family, terrific humor, and intellect. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
