Five locals tabbed for All-Star games

The Annual North/South Indiana All-Star Classic will take place Saturday at Martinsville High School, with five Johnson County boys and girls taking part in the games.

In the girls game, set to tip off at 5 p.m., Center Grove’s Cassidy Hardin and Indian Creek’s Addie Rund will be playing for the North team. They’ll go up against a South squad headlined by Whiteland’s Mackenzie Blazek. Warriors head coach Kyle Shipp will be one of the South coaches.

Indian Creek’s Jared DeHart and Greenwood’s Jeffrey Reynolds will suit up for the North team in the boys game, which is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Grizzly Cubs get past Perry Meridian in 3

Bouncing back from a Tuesday defeat at Brownsburg, Franklin coasted past Perry Meridian on Wednesday, 25-11, 25-14, 25-9.

The Grizzly Cubs (2-2) will host Center Grove, Ben Davis and Avon on Friday evening.

Lacrosse team routs Thomas More

Franklin College scored four goals in the first five minutes of play to set the tone in a 19-2 victory at Thomas More on Wednesday.

Abby Stayer scored five times to lead the Grizzlies (2-3, 2-2 Ohio River Lacrosse Conference).

Jess Silva added four goals, Brooke Hughes tallied three and Morgan McIntosh and Abbey Voss each had two. Courtney Jones made a pair of saves to earn the win in goal.
