Marjorie Ellen Ambrose Deale

FRANKLIN

Marjorie Ellen Ambrose Deale, 94, died March 30, 2018. She was a resident of the Franklin United Methodist Community (Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community).

She was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Eureka, IL, to the late Curtis E. Ambrose and Lela Julia Rickwood Ambrose. She married Dr. Hugh S. Deale on April 2, 1946, in Oblong, IL. Marjorie was a 1941 graduate of Oblong Township High School and a 1946 graduate of Indiana University Training School for Nurses.

She and her husband served for 25 years as missionaries (nurse/dentist) with the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church in the Belgian Congo (Democratic Rep. of Congo), Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), Haiti, and Red Bird Mission, Beverly, KY. Over the years, they also lived in Chesterton, North Judson, Indianapolis, Bloomington, Muncie, Rochester, Michigan City, and Richmond, IN, before moving to the Franklin United Methodist Community in 1984, where she worked as a part-time nurse for seven years before retiring.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the Joanna Circle of the United Methodist Women, and the Monday Intercessory Prayer Team. She also helped in the nursery with childcare and served for 20 years as a member of the Missions Committee.

Survivors include four daughters, Julia Kay Deale of San Diego, CA, Gale (Ron) Willis of Sprague River, OR, Peggy Dickerson of Richmond, TX, and Barbara (David) Miller of Cochabamba, Bolivia; one son, Kenneth S. (Barbara Ann) Deale of Bidwell, OH; beloved niece, Louise Marsh Indinanapolis, IN; her sister, Dorothy Hippensteel of Lima, OH; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandson; seven nieces; two nephews; eight grandnieces; and three grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. Hugh S. Deale; a son, Hugh Rickwood Deale; and her brother ,Dr. Kenneth Ambrose.

A celebration-of- life memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018, in the Wright Memorial Chapel at the Franklin United Methodist Community (Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community), 1070 W. Jefferson St., Franklin, IN. The family will greet friends after the service at a reception in Fellowship Hall at Franklin United Methodist Community (Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community).

Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center is handling arrangements.
