PHOENIX — Police in Phoenix say a 58-year-old man has died of his injuries after being shot multiple times in an officer-involved shooting.

In a news release Monday, the Phoenix Police Department said that John Wussler did not survive his injuries in the shooting on Sunday morning.

Police says officers responded to an apartment complex near 32nd Street and McDowell Road about 8:30 a.m. Sunday because a suspect had allegedly broken an order of protection by being in the area and had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

Officers chased the suspect through the apartment complex and say he pulled a handgun from the waistband of his pants.

Wussler was shot several times and taken to a hospital, where he underwent surgery. No officers were injured in the incident.
