SITKA, Alaska — The body of a Sitka man has been recovered from a beach west of Peril Strait.

Alaska State Troopers say the body of 49-year-old Sean Elliot was found on a beach in Goose Cove.

Searchers also found a boat overturned in the water but a second man reportedly on board is missing.

Troopers shortly before 8:30 a.m. Sunday received notification that an emergency signal had been activated in Peril Strait north of Baranof Island.

Troopers notified the Coast Guard, which responded with Sitka and volunteer emergency officials.

Searchers are looking for the other man.
