ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Anchorage police have released the name of a 20-year-old knife-wielding assault suspect who charged an officer and was fatally shot.
Zander Clark died Saturday night.
Police say Clark and a woman were walking home shortly before 6:30 p.m. when they got into a fight in the parking lot of a Home Depot store in northeast Anchorage.
The man stabbed the woman. Police say she suffered non-life-threatening injuries and ran into the store.
The man slashed tires on cars and ran. An officer spotted Clark in a restaurant parking lot and followed him into Penland Parkway trailer park.
Police say Clark ignored commands to stop, and with knife in hand, turned and ran toward the officer, who fired and killed him.
The State Office of Special Prosecutions will review the incident.
