Local man arrested on battery charges

A Morgantown man was arrested after a woman told police that he had thrown her out of a car and left her outside in a snowstorm.

Dylan D. Totten, 27, was arrested on a charge of domestic battery.

The woman told police she and Totten were driving southeast of Bargersville early Wednesday morning when Totten began to drive erratically. After they began to argue, the woman told officers that Totten hit her in the side of the head. The woman put the car into park, and they both got out of the car. When the woman tried to get into the drivers seat, she said that Totten threw her to the ground, took the keys from her, and drove away, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report said.

The woman went to a nearby home, and a resident called 911, the report said.

The woman was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital to be checked out, the report said.

Totten told deputies that he and the woman had been arguing, and declined to give more information about what had happened, the report said.

Totten, 456 S. County Road 700W, was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail. He was held on $1,000 bond.
