Police: Woman broke into local residence

A woman was arrested after a driver spotted her attempting to break into a Center Grove area home Tuesday evening

Mindy L. Wright, 38, Greenwood, was arrested on charges of operating under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, residential entry and battery on a public safety official.

A man driving in the 3000 block of Chancellor Drive around 5:30 p.m. called police about a woman he had seen kick the front window of a home, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report said. He then followed the woman when she drove away and got a picture of her license plate, the report said.

A deputy stopped the vehicle in the area, and smelled alcohol. Wright refused to take a breathalyzer test and was arrested and taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital for a blood test, the report said.

Wright fought with officers, kicking a jail officer and spitting on a deputy while her blood was being drawn, the report said. When deputies searched Wright’s vehicle, they found boxes of medication addressed to another person, and mail and car keys from the home she was seen attempting to break into, which belonged to an acquaintance, the report said.

Wright, 462 Paddock Road, was taken to the Johnson County jail and was held on $3,200 bond.
