Benjamin Clarkston, an eighth-grader at Center Grove Middle School Central, capped off a banner season with a strong performance at the Age Group State Spring Championships last weekend at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.
Clarkston helped the Center Grove Aquatic Club place second in the 200-yard medley relay, one of the Trojans’ four top-five relay efforts. He also was third in the 100 backstroke and fifth in the 100 butterfly.
During the school season, Clarkston set Trojan records in seven individual events and three relays, helping Center Grove complete a third consecutive unbeaten middle school season with MIC and Johnson County championships. He established a new county standard in the 50 butterfly while also swimming on two record-setting relays (200 medley, 400 freestyle) for Center Grove.
