Credit union gets new employee

James Abbett has joined Indiana Members Credit Union as a business development officer.

Abbett will oversee new and existing member relationships as well as actively promote and and involved the business in the local community.

He graduated from Warren Central High School and is a 2017 graduate of Marian University with a focus in management.

Credit union wins awards

A local credit union has won national awards.

Financial Center First Credit Union earned four national awards for financial literacy and community outreach through the Credit Union National Association.

The awards include:

  • First place: DesJardins Adult Financial Education Award recognizes Financial Center for providing adult financial literacy to over 3,000 people in Central Indiana.
  • First place: Dora Maxwell Award recognizes the Credit Union for demonstrating outstanding social responsibility due to its partnership with Fox 59’s year-long Pack the Pantries program which helps bring awareness and financial support of Central Indiana food pantries.
  • Second place: Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Award demonstrates the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.” Financial Center won for its International Advisory Committee which advises its Board of Directors on financial issues faced by Central Indiana’s growing immigrant community.
  • Honorable mention: DesJardins Youth Financial Education Award recognizes Financial Center for providing guest lectures, financial education materials, and scholarships to local high school students.

Edinburgh outlets getting new store

An Old Navy will become a part of the Edinburgh Premium Outlets this October.

The store will fill 12,751 square feet across from Adidas near the Market Place Drive entrance in the southside of the county.

Old Navy offers clothing for women, men and children.

Indiana Members Credit union earn money bowling

Bowling helped a local credit union raise money for children.

Indiana Members Credit Union hosted their ninth annual Bowl-A-Thon employee fundraising event at Expo Bowl in Indianapolis. The event raised $6,600 which will assist in supporting the mission of Indiana Members Foundation.

The Indiana Members Foundation was founded in 2010 by Indiana Members Credit Union employees and volunteers for the purpose of being a positive influence in the community, specifically providing school children in the Indianapolis area with the necessary essentials for learning and succeeding in their education.
