James Edward Yates, 87, passed away March 15, 2018.
He was born April 10, 1930, to the late Robert & Sina L .Yates.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane (Wilson) Yates; daughter, Debra Yates, sons, James E. (wife, Penny) Yates II, Robert (wife, Dorethea) Yates, and Timothy Yates; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his sister, Inez May Yates; and brother, Frank Raymond Rishel.
He was employed at Allison Division of General Motors for 37 years before retiring in 1990. He was a Free & Accepted Mason, Greenwood Lodge #514. He was a member of Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church, where he served as a Trustee.
James was cremated and entombed at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
A service celebrating his life will be at 3:00 P.M. Monday, March 19, at Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church with an hour of calling prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Auburn UMC Memorial Fund, 3100 Stones Crossing Rd., Greenwood, IN 46143.
