Traffic stop results in arrest of area woman

A Greenwood woman was arrested after police found marijuana in her vehicle during a traffic stop.

Brittany V. Ward, 24, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

Just after 10 p.m., a Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department deputy stopped Ward on U.S. 31 in Columbus. When Ward opened the glove box to get her vehicle registration, the deputy saw a marijuana pipe inside. A police dog was called to search the vehicle, and deputies found two baggies of a green leafy substance, suspected to be marijuana, in the vehicle.

Ward was arrested and taken to the Bartholomew County Jail, where she has since been released.
