Woman charged with battery

A Bargersville woman was arrested after a child told police that the woman had hit her with a curtain rod last month.

Lori R. Thompson, 38, was charged with battery on a person less than 14 years old, according to court documents.

In February, caregivers called police about suspicious injuries to two children they were watching, including one child who had had bruising on her left cheek and back, the Bargersville Police Department report said.

One of the children told police that Thompson had hit her in the back with a curtain rod, after the child had been slow to put the curtain back on it. Another child told police that his head had been pushed into a wall repeatedly, the report said.

The Indiana Department of Child Services was called to investigate, and they removed the two children from the home, the report said.

Thompson declined to talk with police about the injuries to the children, the report said.

Thompson, 4200 W. State Road 144, was taken to the Johnson County jail. She was released on $1,200 bond.
