PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland police arrested a suspected burglar after an hours-long standoff that began with an exchange of gunfire just west of downtown.

Sgt. Chris Burley says the woman was taken to a hospital Thursday for treatment of an injury not considered life-threatening.

Officers responded to the Goose Hollow neighborhood at about 3:30 a.m. on a report of a burglary in progress. There was an exchange of gunfire when officers found the suspect.

A SWAT team and crisis negotiators responded during the standoff that lasted more than three hours.

Police Chief Danielle Outlaw says she’s grateful no officers were hurt, and the incident will be reviewed.
