PHOENIX — Authorities say a man sought for pointing a rifle at a woman has been injured in a Phoenix police chase and shootout, but wasn’t struck by gunfire.
Police Sgt. Jonathan Howard said Thursday that 34-year-old Andres Reyes was treated at a hospital then booked on charges including aggravated assault, stealing a vehicle and armed robbery.
Howard says the chase began Wednesday when officers looking for Reyes found him leaving an apartment.
Reyes sped off in a stolen vehicle, sparking a chase during which he allegedly fired shots at officers.
Reyes crashed into a pole, then drove away in a second vehicle he grabbed at rifle point.
An armored police vehicle rammed into Reyes, then he collided with a second police vehicle and a shootout ensued.
Nobody else was hurt.
