Concert series teaches children about instruments of the orchestra

A concert series at multiple Johnson County Public Library branches is meant to introduce the youngest in your family to music.

The Teddy Bear Concert Series through the Johnson County Public Library and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra continues a with “The Big Note” at 11 a.m. March 17 at the Franklin branch, 401 S. State St., and at 11 a.m. March 24 at the White River branch, 1664 Library Blvd., Greenwood.

“The Giant’s Violin,” will be 11 a.m. April 28 at the Clark-Pleasant branch, 530 Tracy Road, Whiteland.

The Teddy Bear Concert Series introduces preschool and early elementary children to the instruments of the orchestra through story, movement, and live music played by musicians from the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Families can listen to the original story by Victoria Griswold, dance along to the music, and get up close and personal with the instruments. Copies of the original story, “The Garden Symphony”, will be available for purchase.
