A big snowstorm is on its way to northern New England.

The National Weather Service says it could leave over a foot of snow in some areas of Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. A changeover to rain is possible along the coast.

The snow is expected to start arriving Wednesday morning in far southern Vermont and later in the afternoon in New Hampshire and Maine. It’s expected to wind down Thursday morning.

A winter storm warning was issued for parts of central and southern New Hampshire, southwest Maine, parts of the Champlain Valley and central into northeastern Vermont.
