POCATELLO, Idaho — Idaho State University’s School of Nursing has a new dean.

KIFI-TV reports that Anita Smith will lead the School of Nursing following Interim Dean Nancy Renn. She will oversee programs at both the Pocatello and Meridian campuses.

Smith received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Washington and her doctorate from the University of San Diego.

She’s currently with the Bureau of Navy Medicine at the Defense Health Headquarters in Falls Church, Virginia, serving with the rank of Captain.

She previously held academic appointments at the University of South Alabama and Point Loma Nazarene University. She has also held leadership positions with the Veterans Administration.

Smith will start at ISU in late August.
