MARRERO, La. — Prosecutors say a Louisiana man has been convicted of forcing his way into an 84-year-old woman’s home on New Year’s Eve 2016 in search of money and beating her until she lost consciousness.

Jefferson Parish District Attorney Paul D. Connick Jr. says 39-year-old Brandon Pike was found guilty of aggravated burglary and second-degree battery Tuesday.

According to testimony, Pike walked past the woman’s Christmas decorations adorning her front yard and kicked open the front door. Pike ordered the woman to give him money once inside. When she said she had no money, he repeatedly punched her.

He rummaged through her bedroom and, according to testimony, left with the woman’s television.

The victim recognized Pike by his first name because she’d seen him working at a local store.
