SEATTLE — Kianna Ibis had 13 points and Sophia Elenga scored 11 to help Arizona State beat Arizona 76-47 on Thursday night in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament.
Charnea Johnson-Chapman added 10 points and Kiara Russell had nine points with a career-high nine assists for No. 6 seed Arizona State. The Sun Devils (20-11) will play No. 10 and third-seeded Oregon State in the quarterfinals on Friday. The Beavers swept the season series against Arizona State, including a 64-60 win in Tempe on Sunday in the regular-season finale.
Ibis made a jumper and then a layup to spark a 13-0 opening run and the Sun Devils led by double figures the rest of the way. Arizona (6-24) shot just 1 of 8 from the field and committed nine turnovers in the first quarter.
Nine Arizona State players scored at least four points and the Sun Devils shot 56.9 percent (33 of 58) from the field. ASU outrebounded the Wildcats 33-19 and had a 16-4 edge in second-chance points.
JaLea Bennett and Sam Thomas each scored 11 points for Arizona, which lost seven in a row, and 11 of its last 12, to close the season.
