PHOENIX — A portion of the Valley Metro light rail service in Phoenix is shut down and a major Phoenix intersection in the area is closed because of a shooting.

Police confirmed there was a shooting Friday morning at the intersection of 19th and Glendale avenues but no additional information was immediately released.

The light rail station at the intersection was closed and Valley Metro says buses are being used to ferry passengers between the platforms at Northern and Montebello avenues. They’re about 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) apart along Glendale Avenue.
