CASPER, Wyo. — A fire at a Wyoming apartment building that houses senior citizens has left one person dead.

The fire broke out about 10:30 a.m. Thursday in an apartment on the seventh floor of the eight-story St. Anthony Manor in downtown Casper.

Casper Fire-EMS spokesman Dane Andersen says a pet also perished.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports that another person was taken to a Casper hospital for smoke inhalation. Other people were treated at the scene.

The name of the victim was not immediately released, and the cause of the fire remained under investigation.

Anderson said in a later news release that none of the building’s residents have been displaced.
