NORFOLK, Va. — Police say a shooting at a Norfolk State University residence hall has left one student injured.
Norfolk police said in a statement Tuesday that authorities responded to the dorm around 1 a.m. for a gunshot disturbance. When they arrived, they found a 19-year-old student inside his room suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The statement says the man heard a loud noise from an adjacent dorm room and noticed he had been shot. When police responded to the adjoining room, they say the suspect was no longer there.
The student was taken to a hospital, and police say he’s expected to be OK.
No other injuries were reported.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Norfolk police, who are investigating.
