Marjorie J. Kemp

TRAFALGAR

Marjorie J. “Margie” (Ellis) Kemp, age 85, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, February 25, 2018 at the Otterbein Franklin Senior Life Community in Franklin. She was a former resident of Trafalgar.

Marjorie was born July 20, 1932, at home on Fruitdale Road in Brown County to the late Albert Stanley and Cora Mary (Stein) Ellis. In 1948, at the age of 16, she graduated from Helmsburg High School. Marjorie married Raymond V. Kemp on October 4, 1953 at the Morgantown First Christian Church. He preceded her in death on December 19, 1984 after 31 loving years of marriage.

Marjorie retired in 1973 after 23 years of service at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis as a Medical Transcriptionist. She was the owner/operator of Lavender House Restaurant in Bean Blossom and of Teddy Bear House Daycare in Morgantown. After retirement, Marjorie continued to work at home as a medical transcriptionist for doctors in the local area for almost 15 years.

She was a member of the Morgantown First Christian Church and Samaria Christian Church. Marjorie loved spending time in the outdoors by admiring flowers and watching the squirrels and birds. She studied the word of God intently and was an avid reader of Chuck Swindoll, C.S. Lewis, Billy Graham, Charles Stanley, and Dr. James Dobson. She loved her pet beagle mix “Cricket” and enjoyed watching television shows such as Gunsmoke and Monk. Marjorie was also an avid sports fan with her favorite athlete being Peyton Manning.

Marjorie will be dearly missed by her children: Susan Pate of Trafalgar and Roland “Gene” (Jill) Kemp of Trafalgar and Sharon Kemp of Morgantown, grandchildren: Kenny Pate of St. Louis Crossing, Melissa (Jason) Tincher of Brown County, Tammy (Kevin) Pace of Columbus, Danny (Ignacia) Kemp of Fishers, Jason (Gina) McKee of Towner, North Dakota, Christy (John) Robertson of Nashville, Lauren (Josh) Curtis of Denver, Colorado, Carla (Jack) Chapman of Franklin, Joe Kemp and Steven Kemp both of Trafalgar, and 16 great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, children: Sandy Doreen McKee and David Stanley Kemp, and siblings: Richard, Robert, and Sidney Ellis and Dorothy “Susie” Sharon.

The Pastor Reed Waggoner will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
