GREELEY, Colo. — A house fire in Gill, Colorado, has left one dead.

The Greeley Tribune reports that the Platte Valley Fire Protection District received a call on Thursday saying smoke was rolling out of the roof of the house.

District spokeswoman Stephanie Cooke says the caller knocked on the door, but nobody answered.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire upon arrival and recovered the fire victim.

Firefighters also found four dead ferrets and cats in the house.

The Weld County Coroner has not release the identity of the victim, pending notification of family.
