Warriors’ Blazek, Trojans’ Cassidy earn All-State nods

Whiteland’s Mackenzie Blazek and Center Grove’s Cassidy Hardin have been earning accolades on the basketball court for years.

On Wednesday, the two local stars picked up a pretty big one.

Blazek and Hardin were both among the 15 seniors named to the “Supreme 15” All-State team released by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.

The Purdue-bound Hardin averaged 17.5 points and 2.9 steals per game while leading the Trojans to county and sectional titles. Center Grove made the final of the Columbus North Regional before losing to Bedford North Lawrence on a buzzer-beater.

Blazek, meanwhile, helped the Warriors win the Mid-State Conference title while setting a school record for wins with 19. The University of Illinois signee averaged 18.4 points, 14.2 rebounds and 4.0 blocked shots.

Sarah Mangan of Greenwood Christian and Leah Moore of Greenwood were named honorable mention Senior All-State.

The Underclass All-State team featured four local players who earned honorable mention: Megan Harlow and Natalie Stuck of Whiteland, Ella Thompson of Center Grove and Alana Vinson of Roncalli.
