LAS VEGAS — Authorities are investigating a body that was found near Mount Charleston.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says a hiker reported seeing the body around 5:10 p.m. Sunday between mile markers 9 and 11 along State Route 157.

An officer later found the body.

Police say the cause of death was not immediately known.
